Incorrect Baseline

Baseline magazine has an article, rather a primer, on Master Data Management (MDM). The last paragraph in this article goes like this

“Who are the players? There is not yet a clearly defined industry providing products and services, but according to Gartner vice president Nick Gall, Ascential (recently acquired by IBM) and Informatica supply a comprehensive set of integration tools and services.”

I am not sure where the magazine get its story from but MDM is neither a new segment nor a raw one. I head the Data Integration practice at Cignex and we have been offering consulting services around MDM for almost a year. Cignex is an implementation partner for Siperian, a leader in Customer Data Integration (CDI) a subset of which is the MDM. Siperian has been a well established player in this space, and most pharma’s have been benefiting from their tool. Besides Siperian, there are quite a few other players who do MDM or other kinds of ‘System Of Record’.

If you need more information on CDI or MDM, please visit our website or our partners.

PS. And just to clarify, Ascential or Informatica does not do MDM (in the truest sense). Yes, they do supply some Integration tools, but mainly in the Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) space.
